15. DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors

Position: Shooting Guard
Age: 27 (8/7/1989)
Experience: 8th Season
2016-17 Slash Line: .473/.258/.850
2016-17 Season Averages: 35.4 MPG, 27.9 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.2 SPG

The Toronto Raptors will send DeMar DeRozan to the All-Star Game for the third time in his burgeoning career. He’s developing into an elite scorer who can take over games against every caliber of opponent.

DeRozan recently fell victim to an ankle injury, but it doesn’t project to hold him out for more than a brief period of time.

DeRozan ranks No. 6 in the NBA in scoring and is doing so on efficient shooting marks of .473 from the field and .850 from the free throw line. He has a unique blend of power and creativity on the drive, which enables him to get to the free throw line with consistency.

DeRozan is currently No. 6 in the NBA in free throw attempts per game and only two of the players ahead of him are more efficient at the charity stripe.

Though he may not play a game that fits modern standards, it’s effective enough to have Toronto off to a 28-18 start to the season. That puts the Raptors on pace for 50 wins, which is a more than acceptable goal for a contending team in the Eastern Conference.

As Toronto paces itself to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, DeRozan’s consistency as a scorer must be acknowledged as a key to team success.
