The Golden State Warriors are beginning to realize their potential as an unstoppable juggernaut. Not only is the offense beginning to find its rhythm, but the Warriors rank No. 1 in the NBA in points allowed per 100 possessions.

Though the Warriors have a number of outstanding defensive players, it’s Draymond Green who’s the glue on that end of the floor.

Many believe that Green’s value and versatility make him the frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year. Whether or not he’s No. 1 on your list, Green is No. 8 in the NBA in Real Plus-Minus and No. 2 in Defensive Real Plus-Minus.

Beyond the advanced metrics, Green has an invaluable ability to defend multiple positions and play any number of roles on both ends of the floor.

This past week, Green flashed his versatility with 15 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, three blocks, one steal, and three 3-point field goals made in a 125-108 win over the Houston Rockets. It was a display of his unique ability to contribute in every phase of the game.

Green’s numbers may not always be gaudy, but he’s the vocal leader, defensive anchor, and primary facilitator for a team with four players who were named All-NBA in 2015-16.
