The Cleveland Cavaliers may be in the midst of a losing streak, but it’s hard to blame Kyrie Irving for that inconsistency. He put together a fantastic week and was even more of a bright spot than LeBron James during the three-game losing streak.

Irving is a polarizing player, but as the closer for a 30-14 contender, he’s earned his place as a Top 20 player in 2016-17.

Irving began this past week with 29 points and nine assists on 13-of-22 shooting during a 118-115 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He ended the week with 20 points, six assists, two blocks, and two steals in a 116-112 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Between those two performances was a dominant display, as Irving dropped 49 points on 15-of-28 shooting from the field and an 8-of-14 mark from 3-point range.

Whether or not James is correct about Cleveland needing a backup point guard, Irving has been more than sufficient at point guard. He’s earned his fourth career All-Star Game appearance at just 24 years of age and projects to have many more to come.

Considering Irving won the All-Star Game MVP award in 2014, it’s safe to say he’ll be ready to turn heads again at All-Star Weekend.
