You may not be hearing anything about it, but John Wall and the Washington Wizards are the hottest team in the Eastern Conference. Since dropping to 6-12 on the season, Wall has led the Wizards to a record of 19-8 over the past 27 games.

Now 25-20 and coming off of wins over the likes of the Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies, the Wizards are to be taken seriously.

Wall is the only player in the NBA who’s currently averaging at least 20.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. This past week, he took down a pair of potential All-Stars in Isaiah Thomas and Kemba Walker, as well as Detroit’s Reggie Jackson.

For his efforts, Wall has reportedly been named an Eastern Conference All-Star reserve, which is a distinction that he undoubtedly deserves.

For perspective, Wall is on pace to become just the second player since 1991 to average at least 23.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

This past week, Wall posted 19 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and two steals in a loss to the Detroit Pistons. He then put up 24 points in a 109-99 win over the Charlotte Hornets, and had 24 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds in a 123-108 win over the Celtics.

Wall may be overlooked and underrated on a consistent basis, but he continues to emerge as both a borderline superstar and a potential MVP candidate.
