NBA: 5 Most Disappointing Teams So Far In 2016-17
1. Dallas Mavericks
It wasn’t that long ago when the Dallas Mavericks surprised the sports world by knocking off the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals.
Since that time, though, things haven’t gone too well for the Mavs. Sure, they have reached the playoffs in four of the five seasons since winning it all, but they have failed to make it past the first round in each of those appearances.
This includes a five-game exit at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2016 playoffs.
The Mavericks were hoping that their offseason additions — Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut — would improve their roster.
But due to the fact that several players have sustained injuries — including Bogut, Dirk Nowitzki, Deron Williams, J.J. Barea and Devin Harris — the Mavericks have struggled to say the least.
Not only are they tied for the worst record in the league at 6-18, the Mavs also have the third-worst point differential at minus-7.0.
In addition to that, the Mavs are last in scoring (93.5); are 28th in offensive efficiency (101.2 per 100 possessions) and they have a less-than impressive defensive rating of 108.8.

While injuries and a tough schedule have been largely responsible for the Mavericks’ slow start, it will be interesting to see if they will be able to get back on track once all of their key players return to the lineup.
