Chicago Bulls: A Look At First Quarter 2016-17 Award Winners
Top Sixth Man: Doug McDermott
McDermott flourished during Fred Hoiberg‘s first year with the team in 2015-16, more than tripling his scoring average from the previous season.
Prior to sustaining his second concussion in a game against the Washington Wizards on Nov. 12, McDermott was far and away the Bulls’ top player coming off the bench.
Not only is he averaging a career-best 10.6 points per contest, he is also shooting an efficient 51 percent from the field. Along with that, McDermott ranks third on the team in three-point shooting, knocking down 36 percent of his attempts.
McDermott has been out of the lineup for the past 10 games. The Bulls’ record during that span: a less than impressive 4-6 mark.
It is being reported that he may return to the lineup in the team’s next game against the San Antonio Spurs.
If that is the case, his presence will be a welcome addition being that the second unit has struggled during his absence.
