Al Horford has returned and provided the Boston Celtics with All-NBA level production. He missed nine games, however, and it was point guard Isaiah Thomas who helped the Celtics go an admirable 4-5 during Horford’s absence.

Over the past week, Thomas and Horford combined forces to lead Boston to three wins in four games—a feat that helps Thomas far more than it hurts him.

After struggling against the Golden State Warriors, Thomas led Boston to three straight wins. He posted 24 points and eight assists in a 94-92 victory over the Detroit Pistons and ripped off 29 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Thomas finished the week by recording 23 points and five assists during a 111-92 victory over the division rival Brooklyn Nets.

Thomas is one of four players averaging at least 25.0 points and 6.0 assists during the 2016-17 NBA regular season. The only other players on that list are Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook.

The narrative was fun when Thomas was a 5’9″ point guard making waves, but it’s time to respect him for what he is: a star, no matter the height.
