The Los Angeles Clippers have looked like the best team in the NBA during the early weeks of the 2016-17 regular season. The Golden State Warriors will likely overtake them, but Paul and the Clippers have been dominant.
It appears as though Paul is on the right path to the MVP award that he should’ve won in 2007-08—and yes, Kobe Bryant fans, The Black Mamba should’ve gotten his in 2005-06.
Paul posted 17 points and 10 assists against the Oklahoma City Thunder and tallied 19 points, eight dimes, and two steals in a rather brief showing against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That set Paul up for one of the best performances of the season.
In just three quarters of play, Paul recorded 21 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and five steals on 8-of-11 shooting during the Clippers’ 10th win of the season.
Paul’s efficiency in dominating games without playing a full four quarters is comparable to what won Stephen Curry his first MVP award in 2014-15. Though he’s not scoring with the same volume, Paul is dominating on both ends of the floor and facilitating the offense.
Paul struggled against the Memphis Grizzlies, but he’s been nothing short of exceptional throughout the 2016-17 season.
