Oklahoma City Thunder Commit To Vision With Recent Moves
The Offensive Aid
Sam Presti still has work to do in his attempt to surround Russell Westbrook with the necessary offensive firepower. Signing Enes Kanter to a long-term helped in that regard, and extending rising star Victor Oladipo should do the same.
The Oklahoma City Thunder still need shooters—and they really need shooters—but the offense still has potential in the form of its long-term assets.
Oladipo is an explosive athlete who can live in transition and create off the bounce, but he’s been something of a late bloomer. He finished the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons well, but struggled during the first half of both campaigns.
Nevertheless, it must be noted that he averaged 19.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.2 steals, 1.1 blocks, and 1.1 3-point field goals made in 24 games after the 2016 All-Star Break
As for Kanter, he and Westbrook have outstanding chemistry when running the pick and roll. His well-rounded offensive game bodes well, and his friendship with Steven Adams shines through when the two take the court together.
Kanter is signed for guaranteed money through 2018 and has a player option for the 2018-19 season. Oklahoma City has locked up two key offensive role plays.
