1. Jeremy Lin returns to New York

It has certainly been a journey for Jeremy Lin in the NBA. After bursting onto the scene with the New York Knicks during the 2011-2012 season, he has struggled to find a place on an NBA team. Lin was a big part of the success with the Hornets last season, and has earned the opportunity to make a stamp on a team as a starter.

The Nets are thin on proven NBA talent. If they are to experience success this season, Lin and Brook Lopez will need to contribute in a big way. The appeal of being a starter and getting a legitimate shot at running a team was a big part of why Lin left Charlotte. Lin has the opportunity to learn from past mistakes and establish himself as an NBA starter.

Factoring in the absence of draft picks for the Nets, they will need to rely on signings like Lin. While it may take time to rebuild the team, an opportunity to establish one’s self will always appeal to NBA players. Brooklyn also has the advantage of their market to help draw players in. Whether or not Lin shines under the bright lights, he has always been an interesting player and his journey will be fun to keep an eye on this season.
