NBA: Top 10 Candidates For Executive Of The Year Award In 2016-17
8. Chris Wallace
If the Memphis Grizzlies can just stay healthy this season, signing Chandler Parsons and retaining Mike Conley might be enough to put GM Chris Wallace in the conversation.
An injury-laden team still managed to win 42 games under Dave Joerger last season; perhaps the return of Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, plus shooters like Parsons and Troy Daniels spreading the floor for the first time in the Grit-N-Grind era, will help the Grizz make a push for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
However, there is one major issue that Wallace failed to address this summer: a very questionable bench with players who are either too old and injury-prone or too young and inexperienced.
But if the Grizzlies can keep their same toughness about them under new head coach David Fizdale, their starting lineup might cause enough ruckus out West to give this dark horse GM a chance at the award.
