3. May 16, 2001: Sixers vs Toronto Raptors (Eastern Conference Semifinals Game 5)

The Sixers and Raptors were tied at two games apiece, with each team having won a game on the opponent’s home court. Prior to Game 5, the NBA awarded Iverson with the Most Valuable Player award on the heels of a season in which he led the league in points (31.1) and steals (2.5).

As it turned out, the trophy presentation was only a prelude as to what was going to transpire that evening. Maybe some players would have gotten caught up in the magnitude of such a moment, but that wasn’t the case with Iverson.

His final stat line from that game included an eye-popping 52 points on 21-of 32 shooting, seven assists and four steals. Along with that, Iverson converted eight of his 14 attempts from beyond the arc, as the Sixers cruised to an easy 121-88 win — the largest margin of victory in the series by either team.

Iverson became just the second player in NBA history to post multiple 50-point games in a playoff series (he scored 54 points in Game 2). The other guy who accomplished the feat was none other than Michael Jordan, who scored 50 points in back-to-back games against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1988 playoffs.
