The Golden State Warriors landed a rookie guard with promise in February 1983, picking up Sleepy Floyd along with Mickey Johnson from the New Jersey Nets in exchange for Micheal Ray Richardson.

Floyd went on to be named an All-Star in 1987 for the Warriors, during a 1986-87 campaign during which he was second in the NBA in assists.

In parts of six seasons in Golden State, Floyd averaged 17.7 points, 6.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 33.9 minutes per game, shooting .468/.320/.824.

A two-time All-American at Georgetown, Floyd averaged 16.7 points per game as a senior while leading the Hoyas to the national championship game.

He was the 13th overall pick by the Nets in the 1982 NBA Draft.

Waived by Houston in August 1993, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs in October of that year.

Floyd returned to the Nets as a free agent in October 1994, retiring after the 1994-95 season.
