Rony Seikaly had a solid career at Syracuse, averaging more than 16 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game as a senior.
The Miami Heat made the center the first draft pick in their history, selecting him ninth overall in the 1988 NBA Draft.
Seikaly had three top-10 finishes in rebounding in the early years for the Heat after earning the starting job at center early in his rookie season.
He averaged a double-double in his final five seasons on South Beach.
In six seasons in Miami, Seikaly averaged 15.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 32.4 minutes per game, shooting .483/.167/.662.
He was traded in November 1996 to the Orlando Magic.
In February 1998 Seikaly was dealt to the New Jersey Nets.
Waived in August 1999 after a devastating foot injury, Seikaly made a brief comeback in Spain in 2000 before retiring.
