Miami Heat: 25 Best Players To Play For The Heat
By Phil Watson
P.J. Brown had established himself as a solid NBA player before signing with the Miami Heat as a free agent in July 1996.
That reputation got enhanced with the Heat, where Brown was a two-time All-Defensive selection before being traded with Jamal Mashburn, Otis Thorpe, Rodney Buford and Tim James to the Charlotte Hornets in August 2000 in exchange for Anthony Mason, Eddie Jones, Ricky Davis and Dale Ellis.
In four seasons in Miami, Brown averaged 9.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 blocks in 31.2 minutes per game, shooting .472/0-for-3/.755.
Brown was a second-round pick, 29th overall, out of Louisiana Tech by the New Jersey Nets in the 1992 NBA Draft.
With the Hornets, he was an All-Defensive selection in 2000-01 before moving with the franchise to New Orleans in 2002.
Brown was traded to the Chicago Bulls in July 2006.
He signed with the Boston Celtics as a free agent in February 2008, earning a ring with their NBA championship squad that season before retiring at the end of the 2007-08 campaign.
