Miami Heat: 25 Best Players To Play For The Heat
By Phil Watson
Voshon Lenard was a curious case in the NBA, a player who declared for the pros after his junior season at Minnesota, was selected in the second round and opted to return to school.
Lenard made his way to the Miami Heat as a free agent in December 1995 and developed into a serviceable long-range threat before being traded with Mark Strickland in June 2000 to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Chris Gatling and a 2000 second-round pick.
In parts of five seasons in Miami, Lenard averaged 11.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 26.8 minutes per game, shooting .427/.399/.795.
Lenard was taken in the second round of the 1994 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and, after going undrafted in 1995, went to camp with the Bucks and was waived in October 1995, playing briefly in the Continental Basketball Association.
He signed as a free agent with the Toronto Raptors in October 2002 and returned to the Nuggets as a free agent in September 2003.
Lenard was dealt to the Portland Trail Blazers as part of a four-team trade in February 2006 and retired at the end of the 2005-06 season.
