It was a massive deal in August 2005, a five-team trade-a-palooza that wound up with the Miami Heat acquiring Jason Williams, James Posey and Andre Emmett from the Memphis Grizzlies; Antoine Walker from the Boston Celtics; and the rights to 1997 second-round pick Roberto Duenas from the New Orleans Hornets.

In exchange, the Heat dispatched Qyntel Woods, Albert Miralles and second-round picks in 2006 and 2008 to Boston; Eddie Jones to the Grizzlies; and Rasual Butler to New Orleans.

Williams came in and helped the Heat to a title in 2006, averaging 8.8 points, 4.7 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 31.3 minutes per game and shooting .360/.345/7-for-11 in a six-game victory over the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

He left to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers as a free agent in August 2008.

In three seasons in Miami, Williams averaged 10.6 points, 4.9 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 30.1 minutes per game, shooting .414/.354/.883.

Williams was the seventh overall pick out of Florida by the Sacramento Kings in the 1998 NBA Draft and was an All-Rookie selection in 1998-99.

He was traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies in June 2001.

After signing with the Clippers, Williams cited his frequent injuries and retired in September 2008. He signed with the Orlando Magic in August 2009, however, and returned to the NBA.

Waived in January 2011, Williams signed with Memphis in February 2011 before retiring again, for good, in April 2011.

He is 45th in NBA history with 1,238 3-pointers.
