Miami Heat: 25 Best Players To Play For The Heat
By Phil Watson
Miami native Udonis Haslem went undrafted despite earning All-America honors as a junior at Florida, playing his first professional season in France before signing with the Miami Heat on a non-guaranteed camp deal in August 2003.
Weight problems led to his plummeting draft status, but he returned to the U.S. in shape and not only made the Heat roster, but was an All-Rookie selection in 2003-04.
Haslem was fourth in the NBA in field-goal percentage in 2004-05 and is one of only two players to appear in each of the five NBA Finals the Heat have played in.
He has been part of three championship teams (2006, 2012 and 2013) and in 27 Finals games has averaged 3.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game, shooting .460/—/.591.
Haslem’s declining role continued in 2015-16, when he appeared in just 37 games and averaged 1.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per game, shooting .377/1-for-9/12-for-16.
In 13seasons in Miami, Haslem has averaged 7.9 points and 7.0 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game, shooting .492/.094/.757.
A free agent this summer, Haslem agreed to a one-year, $4 million deal to return to the Heat for 2016-17.
