Portland Trail Blazers: 25 Best Players To Play For The Trail Blazers
By Phil Watson
The Portland Trail Blazers were a pick-swapping bazaar on draft night in June 2006, acquiring the rights to second overall pick LaMarcus Aldridge along with a second-round selection in 2007 from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Viktor Khryapa and the rights to No. 4 overall choice Tyrus Thomas.
Aldridge had turned pro after averaging 15 points and more than nine rebounds per game as a sophomore at Texas.
He was an All-Rookie selection in 2006-07.
He was later a four-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA selection for the Blazers and was third in the NBA in minutes per game in 2010-11.
In July 2015, he signed a four-year, $84.1 million deal a free agent with the San Antonio Spurs.
In nine seasons in Portland, Aldridge averaged 19.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and a block in 35.5 minutes per game, shooting .485/.276/.796.
Last season in San Antonio, he was an All-Star for the fifth time in his career and added another All-NBA selection to his resume while averaging 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 30.6 minutes per game on .513/0-for-16/.858 shooting.
Under contract with the Spurs through 2018-19, Aldridge has a player option for the final year of the deal.
