Oct. 25, 2016: Warriors vs. San Antonio Spurs

This matchup features a pair of teams that won a combined total of 140 games last season. Being that the Dubs and Spurs were far and away the top two teams in the Western Conference, a showdown in the conference finals seemed to be a foregone conclusion.

Ironically, that never came to fruition, as Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Spurs 4-2 in the second round of the playoffs after losing the series opener by 32 points.

This will be a game of firsts for both squads. For the first time in 19 years, the Spurs will be without Tim Duncan, who announced his retirement during the offseason. Meanwhile, this will be Durant’s first game with his new team.

While Durant will be trying to develop a chemistry with his new teammates, Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs will be doing their best to beat the defending conference champions on opening night.

Regardless of what happens, It is always entertaining when the top scoring and defensive teams face off against each other, and this instance will be no exception.
