The Los Angeles Clippers took on some salary in a draft-night deal in June 2000, acquiring Corey Maggette, Derek Strong and the rights to 10th overall pick Keyon Dooling from the Orlando Magic in exchange for a first-round pick in 2006.
Maggette turned out to be more than just a salary dump, becoming a solid scorer for the Clippers over much of the next decade.

In eight seasons in Los Angeles, Maggette averaged 17.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 30.8 minutes per game, shooting .448/.331/.824.
He is fifth in franchise history with 512 games, third with 15,780 minutes played, fourth with 367 3-pointers and 8,835 points and eighth with 421 steals.
Maggette played a single season at Duke, averaging 10.6 points per game as a freshman before opting to enter the draft.
He was the 13th overall pick by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1999 NBA Draft and was traded to the Magic on draft night.
In June 2010, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks and was dealt in June 2011 to the Charlotte Bobcats as part of a three-team deal.
Maggette was traded to the Detroit Pistons in June 2012 and signed as a free agent with the San Antonio Spurs in September 2013.
Waived two weeks later in October 2013, Maggette retired.
