Jones played more for the Rockets’ D-League affiliate–24 games–than he did for Houston as a rookie, but he came on strong as the team’s starting power forward in his second year.

In 2015-16, Jones started 11 games and averaged 8.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 20.9 minutes per game on .452/.316/.664 shooting.

The Rockets did not tender a qualifying offer to Jones, making him an unrestricted free agent. He agreed to a one-year minimum contract with the New Orleans Pelicans on July 22, 2016.

In four seasons in Houston, Jones averaged 10.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 24.1 minutes per game, shooting .512/.314/.628.
