5 Bold Predictions For Golden State Warriors’ 2016-17 Season
Warriors Lose to Cavaliers in NBA Finals… Again
When the Warriors signed Durant on Independence Day, everyone handed them the 2017 NBA crown. It only made sense for a team with that much star power to be headed for a second championship in three years, right?
Not so fast.

As previously mentioned, it’ll be tough to spread the wealth with so many highly paid scoring machines on the roster. As a result of all of those expensive contracts, the Warriors haven’t been able to add much quality depth. It’s great that the starting five can score at will, but what about the second team?
Curry, Thompson, Durant and Green can’t play the entire game. The only semi-exciting bench options at this moment are Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.
While the Cavaliers don’t have a loaded bench either, they’re a more well-rounded group that doesn’t rely so heavily on threes. They can dominate in the paint, which often did the Warriors in during this past Finals series.
Even with Durant in the fold, it’s not going to be enough to overcome LeBron James and Co. The Cavaliers will have had three years to gel as a unit come next postseason, and still have the edge in terms of battling down low.
