No Warrior Wins the 2017 NBA MVP Award

In one NBA game, there are only so many possessions to go around.

The Warriors have four superstars in their starting lineup, and yet I’m confident not a single one will finish the season with the MVP award in hand. Part of that is due to the fact that the wealth must be evenly dispersed among the four. The other part is that, with Durant gone, Russell Westbrook has the opportunity truly steal the show in OKC.

As great as the starting lineup will be for Golden State, it’s going to be difficult balancing so much star power. Curry, Thompson and Durant all need to get their scoring opportunities, and I have a feeling there are going to be some rough patches as the group attempts to jell.

Meanwhile, Westbrook is now free to take over as the unquestioned leader of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s going to take that opportunity to truly unleash his potential as one of the NBA’s top playmakers.

The Warriors will obviously enjoy their fair share of success in 2016-17. Still, the hiccups mixed with an overabundance of stardom will force the MVP award to leave the Bay Area.
