5 Bold Predictions For Golden State Warriors’ 2016-17 Season
Draymond Green Averages A Triple-Double
Since entering the league, Draymond Green has shown steady progress while developing into one of the NBA’s most underrated assets. Now, as he heads into the 2016-17 campaign, I think it’s time he finally unleashes his full arsenal of skills on the league.
That’s why I’m confident he’ll average a triple-double during this upcoming season. I mean, he came fairly close last year, averaging 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game. While his point totals may drop a tad with Durant now in the fold, I wouldn’t be surprised if his rebound and assist numbers enjoyed significant boosts.
It’s crazy to consider how far Green has come since the Warriors made him a second-round pick in 2012.
During the pre-draft process, the Michigan State product didn’t get the credit he deserved due to his lack of ideal height. Since joining Golden State, he’s quieted critics with his tenacious defense, ever-improving shooting and ability to outwork taller opponents.
Despite coming in second in Defensive Player of the Year voting each of the last two years, Green continues to be overlooked as a star. While it’s understandable considering the talent that surrounds him, he still deserves more credit than he gets.
This year, he’ll convince folks to start taking him seriously.
