Devin Harris earned All-America honors as a junior at Wisconsin, averaging 19.5 points and 4.4 assists per game, before declaring for the pro ranks.

Taken fifth overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2004 NBA Draft, Harris was part of a draft night deal that sent him to the Dallas Mavericks along with Jerry Stackhouse and Christian Laettner in exchange for Antawn Jamison.

Harris had worked his way into the starting lineup by the 2006-07 season after starting three of the six games in the 2006 NBA Finals loss to the Miami Heat.

In that series, Harris averaged 7.3 points and 2.8 assists in 24.5 minutes per game, shooting .364/0-for-3/12-for-16.

The Mavericks traded him in February 2008 with DeSagana Diop, Trenton Hassell, Maurice Ager, Keith Van Horn and first-round picks in 2008 and 2010 to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for Jason Kidd, Antoine Wright and Malik Allen.

Harris was an All-Star in 2009 with the Nets, who traded him in February 2011 along with Derrick Favors, cash and first-round picks in 2011 and 2013 to the Utah Jazz for Deron Williams.

He was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in July 2012 and returned to Dallas as a free agent in July 2013.

Last season, Harris played in 64 games as a reserve, missing time with a sprained left thumb and a problem with his left big toe, both of which required postseason surgery. He averaged 7.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game on .447/.329/.721 shooting.

In parts of seven seasons in Dallas, Harris has averaged 8.9 points, 3.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 22.0 minutes per game, shooting .451/.334/.782. He does not appear on any of the club’s all-time lists.

Harris re-signed with the Mavericks in July 2014 on a four-year deal that runs through 2017-18.
