Chicago Bulls: All-Time Starting Five
Point Guard: Derrick Rose
The Bulls defied the odds in the 2008 NBA Draft and landed Derrick Rose with the top overall pick. Being that a series of injuries contributed to Rose struggling to remain healthy over the past few seasons, some of us may have forgotten how electrifying of a player Rose was during the healthy years.
Although Rose did win the Rookie of the Year award in 2009 and was the league MVP two seasons later, those impressive accolades alone don’t tell the entire story.
What some of us may have forgotten is how he used to attack the rim with reckless abandon while twisting and contorting his body in ways that most players can only dream about.
For instance, take a look at how he ran circles around the Atlanta Hawks’ defense in Game 3 of the 2011 Eastern Conference semifinals.
Or this 39-point performance against the Orlando Magic, which marked one of several memorable moments from Rose’s MVP season.
When Rose was at his best, there were few players who could guard him, which is why he gets the nod as Chicago’s top starting point guard.
