Chicago Bulls: All-Time Starting Five
Power Forward: Horace Grant
The Bulls selected Horace Grant with the 10th overall pick in the 1987 draft, but as was the case with his former teammate, Pippen, he didn’t make a huge impact in his rookie season. During his inaugural campaign, Grant averaged 7.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Following his rookie season, however, Grant was a double-digit scorer in each of the next six seasons with the Bulls. He posted his best numbers in 1991-92 (14.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest) and 1993-94 (15.1 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest).
During his seven-year stretch in the Windy City, Grant averaged 12.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest while converting at least 50 percent of his shot attempts in every season and he earned one All-Star selection.
Playing in the shadows of Jordan and Pippen, Grant’s contributions weren’t always appreciated. And while he wasn’t in the same tier of power forwards as Charles Barkley or Karl Malone, Grant was a good defender with a solid midrange jump shot and could finish around the rim with the best of them.
