3. Playoff spots should be up for grabs next season

Things couldn’t have gone much worse for the Wizards last season and they still finished just three games out of a playoff position.

In the Eastern Conference, teams like the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics have improved for next season, but the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets all appear to have taken a step back in terms of talent with their off-season departures.

Even the Chicago Bulls appear to be in a tough position, as they deal with a ton of roster turnover and a starting lineup that features poor spacing with Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Butler, Robin Lopez and one of Taj Gibson or Nikola Mirotic.

With a more reliable, deeper roster, improved coaching and internal growth it seems like the Wizards are the clear favorite to capitalize on one of these openings in the playoff standings.

The Heat and Hornets appear to be the most likely candidates to fall out of the playoffs in favor of the Wizards.
