Amar’e Stoudemire earned a Rookie of the Year award and was a five-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA selection when he agreed to terms with the New York Knicks as a free agent in July 2010.

He was acquired from the Phoenix Suns in a sign-and-trade deal, with a 2012 second-round pick and a trade exception going the other way.

Stoudemire delivered early in New York, earning a 2011 All-Star bid and All-NBA status in 2010-11.

But his knees, which had begun to deteriorate while he was still with the Suns, limited his effectiveness later on as he transitioned into a reserve role, finally being waived in February 2015 after the parties agreed to buy out his contract.

In parts of five seasons in New York, Stoudemire averaged 17.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 blocks in 29.1 minutes per game, shooting .518/.319/.775.

He was selected ninth overall by Phoenix out of Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, Fla., in the 2002 NBA Draft and was a standout with the Suns.

After being waived by New York, Stoudemire signed with the Dallas Mavericks two days later.

He signed with the Miami Heat as a free agent in July 2015 and appeared in 52 games, averaging 5.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game on .566/—/.746 shooting.

Stoudemire returned to the Knicks on July 26, 2016, to announce his retirement after 14 NBA seasons. He is 29th in NBA history with a field-goal percentage of .537.
