It was a five-team deal in August 2005 that brought Rasual Butler to the New Orleans Hornets from the Miami Heat, with the Hornets also getting Kirk Snyder from the Utah Jazz and sending the rights to Spanish center Roberto Duenas to Miami.

The Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies were also in the trade.

Butler moved with the team to Oklahoma City for two seasons before returning in 2007. In August 2009, he was traded with cash to the

Los Angeles Clippers

in exchange for a second-round pick in 2016.

In four seasons in Oklahoma City and New Orleans, Butler averaged 9.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 25.9 minutes per game, shooting .407/.374/.722.

He was a second-round pick out of La Salle by the Heat in the 2002 NBA Draft.

Waived by the Clippers in February 2011, he signed in early March with the Chicago Bulls.

In December 2011, Butler signed with the Toronto Raptors before he was waived in March 2012.

He returned to the court in the D-League in 2013 before signing with the Indiana Pacers in September of that year. Butler signed with the Washington Wizards in September 2014.

Butler wound up signing a camp deal with the San Antonio Spurs on Sept. 28, 2015, and made the roster before being waived March 9, 2016. In 46 games, Butler averaged 2.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per game, shooting .471/.306/11-for-16.

He remains unsigned for 2016-17. Butler does have the best turnover percentage in NBA history at 8.0.
