The New Orleans Hornets acquired swingman George Lynch while the club was still in Charlotte as part of a three-team deal in October 2001.

Lynch was acquired with Robert Traylor and Jerome Moiso from the Philadelphia 76ers, with Chris Porter coming over from the Golden State Warriors. The Hornets gave up Derrick Coleman to Philadelphia and cash to the Warriors.

Lynch started and came off the bench with almost equal frequency for the Hornets before he was waived in October 2005.

In three seasons in New Orleans, Lynch averaged 4.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.3 minutes per game, shooting .394/.322/.622.

Lynch was the 12th overall pick out of North Carolina by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1993 NBA Draft.

He was traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies in July 1996 and signed with the 76ers as a free agent in January 1999.

He retired after being waived by New Orleans/Oklahoma City and is now an assistant coach at SMU.
