Baron Davis came to New Orleans as an All-Star, the point guard of the Hornets for a new generation after the team moved from Charlotte in 2002.

Even as he battled injuries after the franchise moved, the third overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft was an All-Star in 2004 and an All-NBA selection in 2003-04.

Davis led the NBA in steals in 2003-04, also finishing second 3-pointers and fourth in assists.

But he was traded in February 2005 to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Dale Davis and Speedy Claxton as the team looked to rebuild.

In parts of three seasons in New Orleans, Davis averaged 20.2 points, seven assists, four rebounds and 2.1 steals in 38.3 minutes per game, shooting .398/.329/.698.

Davis was an All-Star in Charlotte in 2002 and led the NBA in steals for the Warriors in 2006-07.

In July 2008, he signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Clippers. Davis was traded in February 2011 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Waived by Cleveland in December 2011, he signed five days later with the New York Knicks.

Although Davis hasn’t played since 2012, he talked about a possible comeback and did play six games in the D-League in 2015-16.

He is 32nd in NBA history with 1,332 3-pointers, 34th with 6,025 assists, 38th with 1,530 steals, 24th with an average of 7.2 assists per game and 25th with an average of 1.8 steals per game.
