The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets had lacked a true center, solving that issue in July 2006 when they acquired Tyson Chandler from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for P.J. Brown and J.R. Smith.

Chandler came to Oklahoma City and led the NBA in offensive rebounds in 2006-07 and did the same in 2007-08 after the Hornets went back to New Orleans.

He was second in the league in rebounding in 2006-07 and third in 2007-08 and finished second in the NBA in field-goal percentage in 2007-08, as well.

In July 2009, he was dealt to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Emeka Okafor.

In three seasons in Oklahoma City and New Orleans, Chandler averaged 10.2 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 34.3 minutes per game, shooting .611/0-for-2/.569.

He was the second overall pick out of Dominguez High School in Compton, Calif., by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2001 NBA Draft and was traded to the Bulls on draft night.

In July 2010, Chandler was traded to the Dallas Mavericks and was named All-Defensive while helping Dallas to the NBA title in 2010-11.

He was traded to the New York Knicks as part of a three-team deal in December 2011, leading the NBA in field-goal percentage and earning Defensive Player of the Year and All-NBA honors in 2011-12. He was an All-Star in 2013 for the Knicks and a two-time All-Defensive selection.

In June 2014, Chandler was traded back to Dallas and signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns in July 2015.

With the Suns in 2015-16, Chandler averaged 7.2 points and 8.7 rebounds in 24.5 minutes per game while shooting .583/0-for-1/.620.

Under contract with the Suns through 2018-19, he is third in NBA history with a field-goal percentage of .591 and 49th with 9,137 rebounds.
