The New Orleans Hornets signed restricted free agent Ryan Anderson to an offer sheet in July 2012, acquiring the Most Improved Player in the NBA in a sign-and-trade from the Orlando Magic in exchange for Gustavo Ayon.

Anderson was second in the NBA in 3-pointers in 2012-13 and made his way back from a serious neck injury sustained in January 2014.

Last season, he was one of many walking wounded for the Pelicans, missing the final 16 games with a sports hernia. In 66 games, he averaged 17.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in 30.4 minutes per game while shooting .427/.366/.873.

On July 9, 2016, Anderson signed a four-year, $80 million free-agent contract with the Houston Rockets.

In four seasons in New Orleans, Anderson averaged 16.1 points and 5.9 rebounds in 30.4 minutes per game, shooting .421/.371/.868.

Anderson was the 21st overall pick out of California by the New Jersey Nets in the 2008 NBA Draft and was traded to the Magic in June 2009, where he was named Most Improved Player in 2011-12.

He also led the NBA in 3-pointers that season.

Anderson’s deal with Houston runs through the 2019-20 season.
