David Wesley had already been a Hornet for five seasons before the team moved to New Orleans in 2002, having signed with Charlotte as a free agent in July 1997.

He had a terrific debut campaign after the move, finishing fourth in the NBA in 3-point shooting in 2002-03.

In parts of three seasons in New Orleans, Wesley averaged 15.2 points, 3.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.3 minutes per game, shooting .410/.373/.786.

Wesley was undrafted out of Baylor in 1992 and played a season in the Continental Basketball Association before landing with the New Jersey Nets as a free agent in July 1993.

In July 1994, he signed with the Boston Celtics as a free agent.

In September 2006, Wesley signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers and was traded back to the Hornets in September 2007.

A month later, he was dealt to New Jersey and retired after being waived in November 2007. He is currently a television color analyst for the Pelicans.
