The Minnesota Timberwolves replaced a future All-Star point guard with a former All-Star at the position when they acquired Terrell Brandon from the Milwaukee Bucks in March 1999 as part of a three-team trade.

The Timberwolves also acquired Brian Evans and a 1999 first-round pick from the New Jersey Nets, while sending Paul Grant to Milwaukee and Stephon Marbury, Chris Carr and Bill Curley to the Nets.

Brandon was fourth in the NBA in free-throw shooting and fifth in assists in 1999-2000 and was also fifth in assists in 1998-99.

But injuries would catch up with Brandon, who played his last game in 2002.

In parts of four seasons in Minnesota, Brandon averaged 15.6 points, 8.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 35.1 minutes per game, shooting .450/.358/.895.

Brandon was the 11th overall pick from Oregon by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1991 NBA Draft and was an All-Rookie pick in 1991-92 and a two-time All-Star for the Cavs before he was traded to Milwaukee in a three-team deal in September 1997.

He was used as a contract to balance a four-team trade in July 2003 when the Timberwolves sent Brandon to the Atlanta Hawks and Marc Jackson to the Philadelphia 76ers while acquiring Latrell Sprewell from the New York Knicks.

Brandon was waived by the Hawks in February 2004 and announced his retirement a month later.

He is 19th in NBA history with a free-throw percentage of .873.
