The Minnesota Timberwolves started to put together a solid nucleus in the mid-1990s, adding to it with a February 1995 trade that brought Tom Gugliotta from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Donyell Marshall.

Gugliotta was an All-Star with the Timberwolves in 1997, but opted out of his contract after an injury-plagued 1997-98 season and was released in July 1998.

In parts of four seasons in Minnesota, Gugliotta averaged 18.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.7 steals and a block in 37.1 minutes per game, shooting .464/.282/.801.

Taken sixth overall out of NC State by the Washington Bullets in the 1992 NBA Draft, Gugliotta was an All-Rookie performer in 1992-93 before being dealt to Golden State in November 1994.

After his split with the Wolves, Gugliotta signed with the Phoenix Suns in January 1999. He was traded to the Utah Jazz in February 2004, later signing with the Boston Celtics as a free agent in August 2004.

Gugliotta was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in February 2005 and retired after the 2004-05 season.
