Minnesota Timberwolves: 25 Best Players To Play For The Timberwolves
By Phil Watson
Villanova’s Randy Foye had averaged more than 20 points and almost six rebounds a game as a senior, earning All-America honors, but he bounced around a lot on the very first night of his career.
Selected seventh overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2006 NBA Draft, he was traded almost immediately to the Portland Trail Blazers. Later that same night, the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired Foye’s rights from Portland in exchange for the rights to sixth overall pick Brandon Roy.
Foye was an All-Rookie selection in 2006-07 before missing more than half of his second year with knee trouble.
On the eve of the draft in June 2009, Foye was traded with Mike Miller to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Etan Thomas, Darius Songaila, Oleksiy Pecherov and a first-round pick in 2009.
In three seasons with Minnesota, Foye averaged 13 points, 3.7 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 29.5 minutes per game, shooting .420/.374/.845.
In July 2010, Foye signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Clippers and in July 2012, he inked a deal with the Utah Jazz.
He was part of a three-team deal in July 2013 that wound up with him going to the Denver Nuggets.
On Feb. 18, 2016, Foye was dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Between Denver and the Thunder, Foye averaged 5.9 points, 2.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per game and shot .351/.300/.824.
He signed a one-year, $2.5 million free agent deal with the Brooklyn Nets on July 15, 2016.
