The Minnesota Timberwolves picked up the rights to fourth overall pick Stephon Marbury of Georgia Tech on draft night in 1996, sending the rights to No. 5 overall selection Ray Allen and a first-round pick in 1998 to the Milwaukee Bucks for the point guard.

Marbury was an All-Rookie selection in 1996-97 and was fourth in the NBA in assists in 1997-98.

The Wolves acquired Terrell Brandon from Milwaukee and Brian Evans and a first-round pick in 1999 from the Nets.

In parts of three seasons in Minnesota, Marbury averaged 16.9 points, 8.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 36.5 minutes per game, shooting .411/.325/.729.

Marbury was an All-NBA pick in New Jersey in 1999-2000 and an All-Star in 2001 before he was traded to the Phoenix Suns in July 2001.

A 2003 All-Star and 2002-03 All-NBA pick with the Suns, Marbury was on the move again in a January 2004 trade to the New York Knicks.

He was waived in February 2009 and signed three days later with the Boston Celtics. Unsigned after the 2008-09 season, Marbury has played in China since 2010.

Marbury is 23rd in NBA history with 6,471 assists, 18th with an average of 37.7 minutes per game and 17th with an average of 7.6 assists per game.
