The ACC has consistently produced high-quality NBA players. That should continue to prove true as the ACC adds more schools to the conference, thus deepening the talent pool and expanding its overarching reach over college basketball.

As it presently stands, the best active NBA player from the ACC is Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul.

Paul spent two seasons with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons before entering the 2005 NBA Draft. Since then, he’s been named to eight All-NBA Teams, eight All-Defensive Teams, and nine All-Star Games.

Paul has led the NBA in assists in four different seasons, steals in six different seasons, and won All-Star Game MVP in 2013.

Other noteworthy players include Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat, Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Derrick Favors of the Utah Jazz. Bosh and Favors played for Georgia Tech, while Irving played for Duke.

Others, including Reggie Jackson of Boston College and Jeff Teague of Wake Forest, deserve praise, but Paul is still the best player from the ACC.
