Milwaukee Bucks: 25 Best Players To Play For The Bucks
By Phil Watson
The Milwaukee Bucks picked up All-Star Jack Sikma along with second-round picks in 1987 and 1989 from the Seattle SuperSonics in July 1986 in exchange for Alton Lister and first-round selections in 1987 and 1989.
Sikma didn’t recreate his All-Star days from Seattle, but he was a terrific shooter for the Bucks, leading the NBA in free-throw shooting in 1987-88 and developing a decent 3-point shot late in his career before retiring in the summer of 1991.
He was also second in the NBA in free-throw shooting in 1988-89.
In five seasons in Milwaukee, Sikma averaged 13.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and a steal in 31.2 minutes per game, shooting .447/.352/.884.
He was the eighth overall pick out of Illinois Wesleyan by the SuperSonics in the 1977 NBA Draft and was an All-Rookie selection in 1977-78, a seven-time All-Star and an All-Defensive pick in 1981-82 for Seattle.
Sikma was also part of the SuperSonics’ 1979 NBA championship squad and is 29th in NBA history with 10,816 rebounds.
