The Orlando Magic made waves in July 2007 when they agreed to a maximum six-year, $118 million contract with free agent Rashard Lewis, acquiring him in a sign-and-trade deal with the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for a second-round pick in 2009 and a trade exception.
An All-Star in Seattle in 2005, Lewis made a return to the All-Star Game with the Magic in 2009 in the midst of a season during which the power forward led the NBA with 220 3-pointers and helped Orlando to the NBA Finals.
In those Finals, Lewis averaged 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 42.5 minutes per game while shooting .405/.400/11-for-13 as the Magic lost to the
in five games.
In December 2010, Lewis was traded to the Washington Wizards for guard Gilbert Arenas.
In parts of four seasons with the Magic, Lewis averaged 16.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 35.5 minutes per game, shooting .442/.399/.825.
Lewis came into the NBA as a second-round pick by the SuperSonics out of Alief Elsik High School in Houston in the 1998 NBA Draft.
In June 2012, Lewis was traded to the New Orleans Hornets and was waived 10 days later.
He signed a free-agent deal with the Miami Heat in July 2012 and won his lone NBA championship with the Heat in 2013.
He agreed to a free-agent deal with the Dallas Mavericks in July 2014, but the deal was voided after he failed his physical.
Lewis has not played since 2013-14, but has not yet announced his retirement from the NBA.
He is 12th in NBA history with 1,787 3-pointers.
