Jameel Warney

  • Age: 22
  • Height: 6’8″
  • College: Stony Brook

Jameel Warney earned a partially guaranteed contract with the Mavs because of his skills in the paint. As a power forward, Warney provides skills at a position that the Mavs would love to have more depth at.

In his senior season with the Stony Brook Seawolves, Warney was by far the best player on the team and he achieved so much success by using his skills to earn an advantage down low.

In 2015-16, he averaged 19.8 points and 10.8 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game and ended up recording 21 double-doubles throughout the season.

He’s great at taking contact and finishing inside and that’s where he made a living. When he wasn’t crashing the boards or throwing down hard dunks, he was trailing drives to the lane and waiting for the perfect opportunity to either receive a pass or finish a putback.

His team was taken out by Kentucky in the first round of the tournament but that didn’t stop him from dropping 23 points and 15 rebounds. His best game of the season came against UMBC as he recored 27 points and 23 rebounds in an absolutely monstrous outing.

The Mavs are still in need of a few inside players and Warney could be exactly who they are looking for.
