The New Jersey Nets shook things up with a March 1999 trade, acquiring Stephon Marbury, Bill Curley and Chris Carr from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Elliot Perry from the Milwaukee Bucks while sending Sam Cassell and Chris Gatling to the Bucks and Brian Evans and a first-round pick in 1999 to Minnesota.

Marbury, a Brooklyn prep legend, was an All-Star in 2001 with the Nets and an All-NBA selection in 1999-2000.

Marbury was the fourth overall pick out of Georgia Tech by the Bucks in the 1996 NBA Draft and was traded to Minnesota on draft night.

In January 2004, he was traded to the New York Knicks and was waived in February 2009. Three days later, Marbury signed with the Boston Celtics.

Unsigned as a free agent in the summer of 2009, he has played in China for the past seven seasons.

Marbury is 23rd in NBA history with 6,471 assists, 18th with an average of 37.7 minutes per game and 17th with an average of 7.6 assists per game.
