The Denver Nuggets swung a big draft-night deal in 2002, acquiring Marcus Camby, Mark Jackson and the rights to seventh overall pick Nene from the New York Knicks in exchange for Antonio McDyess, the rights to No. 25 overall pick Frank Williams and a second-round pick in 2003.

He made the All-Rookie team in 2002-03 and led the NBA in field-goal percentage with a .615 mark in 2010-11. He also finished second in the NBA in that category in 2008-09, third in 2009-10 and fifth in 2003-04.

In March 2012, as part of a three-team deal that included the Los Angeles Clippers, Nene was traded to the Washington Wizards, acquiring JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf from the Wizards.

In parts of 10 seasons with the Nuggets, Nene averaged 12.4 points, seven rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 29.6 minutes per game, shooting .560/.087/.678.

Drafted by the Knicks from Vasco da Gama in Brazil, Nene signed a one-year contract with the Houston Rockets on July 20, 2016.

He is 22nd in NBA history with a field-goal percentage of .544.
