The Chicago Bulls dealt for a former All-Star in September 1969, acquiring Chet Walker and Shaler Halimon from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Jim Washington and a player to be named later.

Bob Kauffman was sent to the 76ers in May 1970 after Walker earned the first of four All-Star berths for the Bulls.

He led the NBA in free-throw shooting in 1970-71, was second in 1969-70 and fourth in both 1971-72 and 1973-74.

He retired in November 1975.

In six seasons in Chicago, Walker averaged 20.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 33.4 minutes per game, shooting 48.3 percent from the floor and 85.4 percent at the line.

Walker was a second-round pick out of Bradley by the Syracuse Nationals in the 1962 NBA Draft and was an All-Rookie selection in 1962-63. After the franchise moved to Philadelphia, he was a three-time All-Star and was a member of the 76ers’ 1967 NBA title team.

He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
