Elton Brand earned consensus national player of the year honors as a sophomore at Duke, averaging nearly 18 points and 10 rebounds per game and the Chicago Bulls selected him as the first overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft.

Thrust into the spotlight as the Bulls’ first post-dynasty star-caliber player, Brand was the Rookie of the Year in 1999-2000.

In two seasons in Chicago, Brand averaged 20.1 points, 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 blocks in 38.1 minutes per game, shooting .479/0-for-4/.695.

Brand was a two-time All-Star with the Clippers and a 2005-06 All-NBA selection before signing with the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2008.

Waived in July 2012 under the amnesty provision, Brand signed with the Dallas Mavericks the following day. He would sign with the Atlanta Hawks in July 2013 and announced his retirement in August 2015.

However, in January 2016 he signed on for a second tour with the 76ers and appeared in 17 games, averagaing 4.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game while shooting .431/0-for-1/8-for-9.

Currently unsigned for 2016-17, Brand is 20th in NBA history with 1,828 blocked shots and 36th with an average of 1.7 blocks per game.
