Clifford Ray was a solid, if undersized, collegiate center at Oklahoma, averaging more than 13 points and 12 rebounds per game as a senior. The Chicago Bulls took a chance on Ray with a third-round pick in the 1971 NBA Draft.

Ray was a steal, earning All-Rookie honors in 1971-72 for the Bulls.

In three seasons in Chicago, Ray averaged 8.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 blocks in 27.7 minutes per game, shooting 50.2 percent from the floor and 61.4 percent at the line.

With the Warriors, Ray was part of the 1975 NBA championship team and retired after the 1980-81 season.

He is 45th in NBA history with a field-goal percentage of .524.
