The Sacramento Kings were a rising contender in the Western Conference, but wanted to make an upgrade at the point guard position in June 2001. They traded Jason Williams and Nick Anderson to the Vancouver Grizzlies for Mike Bibby and Brent Price and the Kings took a leap.

Sacramento won a franchise-record 61 games in Bibby’s first season with the Kings before losing in the Western Conference Finals.

Bibby was fourth in the NBA in 3-pointers in 2005-06 while with the Kings, as well.

In February 2008, Bibby was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Tyronn Lue, Anthony Johnson, Lorenzen Wright, Shelden Williams and a second-round pick in 2008.

In parts of seven seasons in Sacramento, Bibby averaged 17.6 points, 5.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 35.7 minutes per game, shooting .439/.377/.818.

Taken by the Grizzlies with the second overall pick out of Arizona in the 1998 NBA Draft, Bibby was later traded to the Washington Wizards in February 2011. After negotiating a buyout, he signed with the Miami Heat in March of that year.

Bibby later signed with the New York Knicks in December 2011. Unsigned as a free agent after the 2011-12 campaign, Bibby later retired.

He is 25th in NBA history with 1,517 3-pointers and 45th with 5,517 assists.
